A marketing CV should connect campaign activity to its objective, your contribution and the evidence available. Impressive numbers are useful only when their meaning is clear.
Start with the role you want: content, performance, brand, research and marketing operations can require different examples.
Establish the campaign context
Explain the audience, channel and objective at a level you are permitted to share. Was the campaign intended to generate leads, support awareness, retain customers or promote an event?
State what you personally handled. Strategy, creative production, campaign setup, reporting and optimisation are different contributions, even when they belong to the same campaign.
Choose metrics that fit the objective
Reach, engagement, enquiries, qualified leads and sales answer different questions. Do not present a large impression count as proof of revenue impact. Identify the period and definition of the result where necessary.
For conversion-related claims, be clear about the tracked action. A form submission is not automatically a qualified lead, and a lead is not automatically a sale.
Describe action before claiming causation
An illustrative bullet might explain testing two landing-page messages and reporting differences in completed enquiries. If other campaign changes happened at the same time, avoid implying that one wording change caused the entire result.
Use actual data you can explain. Do not invent return-on-investment figures or attribute a whole team's campaign performance to yourself.
Make the portfolio interpretable
Choose a few relevant examples and explain the brief, your role and the output. Screenshots without context can be difficult to assess. Obtain permission for client work and remove private audience, customer or commercial data.
If results are confidential, discuss the process and deliverables at an authorised level. A portfolio can demonstrate judgment without revealing the full account history.
Tailor the evidence
A performance-marketing role may need experimentation and reporting evidence. A content role may need editorial planning and writing examples. Keep the underlying facts stable while prioritising the relevant work.
Explore marketing CV writing support or request a CV review to check whether the document explains more than the channels you used.
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I include follower growth?
Include it when relevant, accurate and contextualised. Explain your contribution and avoid treating audience growth as proof of every business outcome.
What if I cannot publish client results?
Use permitted descriptions of your process and deliverables. Respect confidentiality rather than disclosing private data to strengthen a CV.
Take Action
Move from reading to results with a clear next step.
